How to Meditate

Meditating can be a powerful way to center oneself and gain greater clarity into their life and the world around them. However, it can be easy to get distracted and lose focus while attempting to meditate. Finding a quiet space to avoid external disturbances is a great start to creating the right atmosphere. Setting a “no disturb” setting on phones and using headphones to block out sound can create a sense of stillness and peace. For those who are able to, setting up a cozy area to meditate, such as lighting a candle, burning sage or incense, or using essential oils can help create a calming and tranquil atmosphere.

Next, it is a good practice to focus on the breath, taking four to five deep breaths to relax the body and free the mind from clutter. This should be followed by calling on whatever higher power one believes in, asking it to clear away any thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that no longer serve one’s higher good. It is important to recognize that one can call on these higher powers in whatever way feels most comfortable; there is no need to get tied up in labels or to create an image in one’s mind of how it should look or behave. The most important thing is to keep an open mind, allowing the energy and images to come as it pleases.

By finding a calm and peaceful space and connecting with a higher power, one can make the most of their time spent meditating. Although it is natural to be distracted, with patience and practice, one can learn to clear their minds and discover the clarity and inner peace that comes with a successful meditation session.

When I finally stopped struggling against the thoughts in my head, that is when I began to see messages within my meditations. There is no single time period to meditate, though I prefer to set aside at least sixty minutes. It may be a bit longer or shorter depending on the day, with no pressure to hurry through it. The most important aspect is to take the time to reconnect with the Source and your place in the Universe.

Meditation does not exist simply to become competent in the practice itself, but rather to enhance our lives in general. Hopefully this advice was of some help. It is certainly a challenging journey, but one which will be rewarding in the end. With all my heart, I wish you all the best in your meditative journey. I love all you beautiful mfn Souls.
